Without a Map You Do Not Know Where You Are Going

Douglas Gabriel explains what cosmology is – ancient and future

.

We are told to “begin with the end in mind” if we want to succeed. But if we don’t have a map, we can’t navigate the path. Cosmology is a map of life that determines your worldview and thus how you perceive the world which then determines whether you are lost or on track. The Cosmos is harmoniously interacting with celestial rhythms that reveal the path of the Divine Plan as an example of what any human can also develop – a living, Christ-centered cosmology.

Cosmos is a Greek word for order—harmony—the world as a plan. Science describes this “order” as a type of harmony of “forces.” Spiritual science reveals these forces as actual beings. That is the whole quarrel. A force has no face and cannot love you back. A being can lovingly donate forces to build a human body or keep a mineral standing still for an long ages. Beings in the Cosmos can commune with humans and teach them to evolve into higher beings. They can help humanity develop into angels.

What is now called “settled science” is a changing set of inadequate theories. The truth of the nature of the Cosmos is much more profound than current theories attempt to describe, and is actually beyond human comprehension at this time in intellectual development. There is no cosmogenesis without anthropogenesis, the universe’s evolution is similar to human evolution. Astrophysics and embryology are one in the same science of creation.

There is no Cosmos without a being who can perceive it, and thus the Cosmos created the being who can perceive it to commune with that new creation. All life follows the first rule of existence: Living things wish to become more of themselves. The quantum cliché that the observer changes the observed is, here, only the kindergarten version of a fact that ancient Mystery Schools taught for millennia in temples dedicated to the beings of the Cosmos. They knew thousands of years ago that the microcosm and the macrocosm are the same etheric geometric tessellations. You are not in the universe as a grain of sand on a nameless beach. You are the ocean reflecting the macrocosmic sky above. As above, so below goes the saying.

A cosmology that works has to be effective in three places simultaneously or it is a cartoon of reality. In its full scope, it should explain the seven “Incarnations of the Earth” in the Divine Plan—Old Saturn, Old Sun, Old Moon, Earth, and the Future Jupiter, Future Venus, and Future Vulcan Incarnations of the Earth. We are currently in the fourth stage of these seven incarnations. These incarnations can only be understood as layers, realms, or dimensions that have been built through heterochrony. Essentially, the earlier stages have not gone away or dissolved but have metamorphosed into ever higher stages of development.

Warmth, light, sound, and life are the ethers or etheric formative forces that are used by spiritual beings of the divine hierarchy to manifest the Cosmos, the Earth, and humanity. Minerals were laid down on Old Saturn and are still directed by the Thrones, the divine Spirits of God’s Willpower. Plants were donated on Old Sun by the Kyriotetes, the Spirits of Wisdom. Animals were created on the Old Moon by the Dynamis, the Spirits of Motion. The human “I AM” ego consciousness was donated during our current Earth incarnation, which is the unfinished work of the Elohim, the Spirits of Form and of the Solar Logos, Christ, who incarnated only once in a human body to perfect His creation.

Any comprehensive Cosmology of the universe and humanity needs to describe the nine ranks of the Spiritual Hierarchy, the Holy Trinity, and the place of the tenth rank of the hierarchy called humanity, the Spirits of Freedom.

Basically, the Cosmos is comprised of unimaginable, all-pervasive love given by God through the rank of the Spiritual Hierarchy called the Seraphim. The Cherubim maintain harmony throughout the Cosmos while the Thrones manifest the willpower of the Divine and were the first movers during creation. The ranks of the Spiritual Hierarchy who work through the realm of the Sun are called: Kyriotetes (Wisdom), Dynamis (Motions), and the Elohim (Form – also, Exusiai). The ranks nearest to humanity are called: Archai (Spirit of Time), Archangels (Folk Souls of the various languages and peoples), and Angels (Guardian Angels for each person).  The understanding of these ranks of angels (spiritual beings) have been described in great detail by Trithemius, Dionysius, Aquinas and many others who indicated that they are the path to the Holy Grail, to New Jerusalem. In other words, evolving upwards through the Spiritual Hierarchy is the path to the Grail Castle and the fulfillment of human evolution into angels.

There are outer, inner, and secret levels of spiritual initiation. Cosmology is the first stage, the foundation upon which all else is built. Other great secrets of the path necessitate understanding the nature and development of thinking, feeling, willing—waking, dreaming, and the trance states of consciousness. The aspirant must become aware of how the nerves, the rhythmic system, and the metabolic system work in the human body. Also, the seven major chakras in the body need to become the conduit for the forces and beings of the seven planets and their relationships to the seven organs and the seven systems of the human body.

It is instructive to imagine that when a sage sat in the “lotus position” they were indicating what a human will look like in the far future after proper spiritual development. The outline of the sage in lotus looks like a Mandelbrot set with seven foci, just like our solar system and its seven planets, as well as the human body. The Cosmos moves in Julia sets, just like the flow of the human heart, and then evolve into nested Mandelbrot sets as the “goal” of the initial ‘first motion’ of creation. The human being mimics this same pattern of creation through the human body. The galaxies and the human chakra-system show the same habit of the world: tessellate, nest, crystallize through the harmony of the spheres (planets) that resemble a Mandelbrot set or the future shape of the human being. Thus, God began with the end in mind when the Divine Plan was first implemented.

When you look at a clear quartz crystal, you are looking at a hollow in space where spirits reside—the same type of hollow space found in the human nerve system. Minerals are homes for gods, according to spiritual science. A mineral is a donation of the Spirits of Willpower, the Thrones, who have allowed a part of themselves, like a shadow, to fall into material space and be locked in time so that other beings might use their donations to become awake in the material world. A mineral is wiser than the human ego that stands upon it and it beholds the Divine Plan from beginning to end. Without minerals as our ground, the human “I AM” would have nowhere to be born. The higher hierarchies suffered and sacrificed for us and still do.

The heart is not a metaphor for the Cosmos, it is a copy of it. It is a “local” copy of a pulse that runs through the entire heliosphere, – the body of the Sun and the stellar firmament. Fibers of the heart replicate what the filaments of plasma do among stars and galaxies. Plasma jets and filaments are replicated in human connective tissue and fascia. Our own heartbeat is beating along with the Cosmos when we are in the perfect harmony of heartbeat to breath (4 to1) when we are asleep. We are swimming in a living, breathing, sounding Cosmos in our dreams surrounded by the angelic choir called the Harmony of the Spheres which rejuvenates and re-enlivens our physical body through sleep.

Perhaps even more importantly, our Voice of Conscience rides the etheric stream from heart to head as an alignment with the beings called the Cherubim, the Spirits of Harmony. We write our karma into our hearts, and the human Voice of Conscience helps us perfect our thinking, feeling, and willing into Moral Imagination, Moral Inspiration, and Moral Intuition. Each night we write our karma into this stream of soul-effort that can arise into spirit awakening. When a Christ-centered Cosmology truly finds its home in the human heart, it harmonizes with the cosmic pulse of the universe which sings the song of the Divine.

We will eventually learn that thinking awakens in the astral body of desire through the nerves. Feeling awakens in the etheric life-body through dreams and in every rhythm you actually maintain on a daily basis—sleep, meals, the daily efforts of spiritual practice. The human willpower, or willing, remains the secret of the metabolic system which is only slightly understood by materialistic science because it is hidden in human subconsciousness and the collective unconsciousness of humanity. In human willpower, the Spiritual Hierarchies still do most of the work. When we fully understand the function and nature of the human kidneys (the old “reins” referred to in the Bible as the “heart and reins”) and their relationship to the Voice of Conscience, we will evolve beyond being an earth-bound human being and rise into the realm of angels. Once we have harmonized thinking, feeling, and willing under one cohesive and comprehensive “I AM” consciousness, we become the ruler of our own domain which is a copy of the Sun, planets, and stars.

A large percent of what humans created throughout the centuries were attempts to stay in harmony with the Cosmos, as they perceived it. The creative arts of architecture, writing, illustrating, music, and all other arts were efforts to speak back to the Cosmos what humans understood the Cosmos was saying to them. It was a dialogue, a communion, a sacred meal.  The ancients had a living cosmology of beings, not forces, that they spoke with and from whom they learned about the world and themselves.

A comet in our solar system is a picture of a human incarnation on Earth. It comes from an unseen region called the Oort Cloud and travels through frozen space towards the solar fire of our Sun without being destroyed or melted. A comet starts as non-physical substance, supposedly, and takes on a seemingly independent life that can defy the heat and supposed gravity of the Sun as it is “drawn” near to the Sun and then “pushed away” from the Sun without dissolving. This is a miraculous and science defying feat — just as the human life is.

When materialistic science is asked where humans come from and where they are going, all they have to offer is an egg and a sperm, and then the cold, dark grave of death. Certainly, we can say that modern science lacks imagination, inspiration, and wisdom. The older ideas of the ancients offer a living Cosmos populated by many spiritual beings who leave hardly a trace but animate the Cosmos. Laugh at the non-material Oort Cloud if you like, or try to figure out a comet, but in the end you will find that the Cosmos is still a mystery that only the human heart can understand through intuition, not through sense-bound, materialistic thinking.

A religion with no cosmology has nothing to stand on. It may have nebulous feelings of devotion and reverence, but for what? What is God? What is a human being? These are the first questions to answer. Science cannot tell you adequately where you came from, where you are, or what the next stage will be. The cosmology spiritual science presents is Christian in the sense that Christ works through the sun-ranks of spiritual beings and through the human “I AM”, just as the Beings of Wisdom work through the wisdom that human’s extract from the world and the Cosmos around them. Therefore, for spiritual development, we need to comprehend who donated the kingdoms of nature around us, who maintains them, and what they are becoming.

The development of the human Spirit-Self (Moral Imagination), Life-Spirit (Moral Inspiration), Spirit-Man (Moral Intuition) are not afterlife accessories. They are the future Incarnations of the Earth trying to help the human being in our current time. They are Future Jupiter’s wisdom, Future Venus’s love, and Vulcan’s perfected willpower—heterochronic gifts already available for the sincere aspirant of the spirit.

The spirits of the prior Incarnation of the Earth still maintain the elemental ground of minerals beneath our feet and the plants and animals that give us life. We need to be grateful for these gifts, donations, and sacrifices of the gods and elemental beings. If we don’t appreciate these gifts and use them properly, we may devolve back into the realms from which we have come. If you choose to devolve into those kingdoms, you will be swimming against the current of the Divine Plan and all the efforts of the Spiritual Hierarchy. But if you evolve towards the angelic ranks, you are accomplishing the very tasks that the human, tenth hierarchy was created for.

Rudolf Steiner’s claim, which this series has been circling, is that the map is not a reprint of the Secret Doctrine with a new cover. The Divine Plan is not an abstract scheme for religion; it is the lesson for today that points to tomorrow. If the Divine Plan is fulfilled, the Earth will one day become a star like our own Sun and the Etheric Christ will act through the human Voice of Conscience to birth the angel in each human. Once wisdom is embodied, then, out of true freedom the human being can love and thus become a conscious member of the Spiritual Hierarchy.

We must learn to offer our spiritual efforts as a meal to the Divine that is nourishing through our efforts of truth, beauty, and goodness. Remember that human willpower is where the ultimate secrets live. Thinking will argue. Feeling will dream it is awake. But willpower is already in conversation with spiritual ranks that you have not met yet and who lovingly maintain our human bodies for us. The Voice of Conscience is that conversation becoming the Word of God on Earth. Cosmology is the grammar of the spirit and the ultimate tool to understand who your spirit is talking with and what they wish to communicate to you.

You are a microcosmic 3D hologram of cosmic harmony and love that hopes to return to your home in the celestial heavens. The point of having a cosmology is not to feel insignificant, but in fact, to feel loved by the Cosmos that wishes for you to join with it to become a co-creator of all that is good. We are not small, we fill the Cosmos with our love, devotion, and wonder. The Cosmos is our home, and the Spiritual Hierarchies are our family that loves and supports us in everything aligned with the Divine. Without the map of cosmology and an understanding of the ranks of spirit beings, you cannot find your way home. Open your heart, for it there that the map lies open for your sincere, seeking spirit.
