A reader writes us and we respond inside with an audio: “Can you share with me any insights you may have as to how the new paradigm of pedagogy that used to be called Waldorf might meet this Covid19 crisis and maintain the healing impulse that used to be the heart of the new pedagogy. What are the truly Rosicrucian and Christic mean of meeting the coming school year?
Some of us in Oregon are seeking to form a collaboration, even a College of educators, where a healing, Christic pedagogy can still be practiced. It is new territory”
Dr. Douglas Gabriel presents an opening lecture on his book The Eternal Curriculum for Wisdom Children – the literature and cultural icons needed by Wisdom Children to integrate the development of humanity into a healthy, living, and meaningful world-view. If you enjoyed Dr. Gabriel’s lecture, you might also enjoy his other lecture series located at the links inside.
After three decades of being a Waldorf teacher and teacher trainer, Douglas Gabriel discovered a comprehensive and practical scheme of ontogeny recapitulating phylogeny while drawing the standard charts and diagrams that formerly had been used in attempts to explain this foundational concept of Rudolf Steiner’s pedagogy.
I participated in the First Class and the Circle in many locations in America and Europe. It was made perfectly clear what the rules were. If a person could be “tricked” with a leading question to admit that they were members – then what was the point of secrecy? I know some Circle members who talked to others about the circle who were not members. This was frowned upon and could result in being kicked out of the Circle. It is certainly possible that I might have been exposed to various “local rules” that only applied to certain groups. I don’t know. I only know what I experienced.
The voice I heard was not the usual voice of conscience that speaks when we need to determine right from wrong or other such situations. It was not the voice of any spiritual being that I had encountered up to that time. It was a real voice outside of myself that produced clearly audible words. It was a man’s voice that was filled with authority and love. I felt the voice was helping me, even though his command didn’t seem reasonable. I had never heard a “discarnate” voice before and it took me by surprise, but yet it was not scary or frightening in any way.
I would like to share with you my personal experience of collaborating for three days in the early 70’s with Marcia Lucas and a small team of Anthroposophy scholars on the script of Star Wars and my recent discoveries about how that foundational work affected the writing, editing and expansions of the original Trilogy.
Here’s how it happened. Not long after the first Star Wars movie came out, I was working in the Waldorf bookstore. My boss and mentor, Werner Glas, stuck his head in the doorway and said, “Douglas, a friend of Marcia Lucas is on the phone and she has too many questions for me to handle. Would you please speak with her and answer all of her questions?”
Yes, there were and still are Jesuit spies in Anthroposophy. I know this, because I was a Jesuit and I worked with well-known Anthroposophists that were Jesuits as well. Many friends and colleagues in the Society know that I speak this as truth as they have shared life events with me regarding that which I am about to reveal.
