The Prophecies of Fatima

The Prophecies of Our Lady of Fatima came true when Pope John Paul II was shot and went through the ordeals and challenges that eventually lead to the circumstances of his canonization as a saint. The Fatima Prophecies predicted the whole thing as well as many other details concerning the Roman Catholic Church. Previous popes had chosen not to give the third and final prophecy to the public because they thought the condemnation of the church, described in great detail in the prophecies, cast a dark shadow over the papacy. It was held back for forty years before it was shared. This reluctance cast doubt on whether the Church had released the entire prophecy or just a part of it. Thus, the mystery of the “missing parts” of the Third Prophecy of Fatima was generated by those who wondered and heard rumors about other prophesies in hidden documents that were even more damnable than what was already released.

The confusion of the missing pieces to the third prophecy is cleared up when the communications of Father Augustine and Mother Lucia are added to the third prophecy. These remarks were given as elaboration by Mother (Sister) Lucia, one of the children who received the communications from “the Lady of Fatima”, to Father Augustine so that he might understand what the future would be in relation to the prophecies. In these conversations, Mother Lucia explains, in more detail, what the future will hold for humanity if they do not repent and turn towards Christ, the Holy Mother, the rosary, prayer, and religious devotions.

The vision of the third secret, and its commentary, is not only an alarming prophetic warning but it is also a message of great hope for the Church which is under the protection of the Mother of Jesus. In essence, Lucia, and the other two children, saw the same vision as St. John wrote about in his Book of Revelation – the Apocalypse — and the future the children describe is just as frightening.

The Prophetic Third Secret of Fatima

The Vatican announced the content of the third secret of Fatima on May 13, 2000. At one time, it was speculated that it was to be announced in 1960. Because of the way the second secret ends, trailing off into a vision that is the third secret (which is actually a visual representation of the last sentence of the second secret), the third secret was withheld from the public.

We are now living through the ominous vision of the third secret. Truly we are witnessing the fulfillment of scripture passages from Revelations. God in His goodness has revealed, through the Holy Mother, all that we need in order to have “the ancient serpent, who is the devil or Satan, chained up for a thousand years and hurled into the abyss…so that he might not lead the nations astray” (Revelations 20: 2, 3). Without the Holy Mother and the true devotion to Her most loving and Immaculate Heart, the Church will remain an empty, barren desert bereft of its contents by ignoring the prophecies of Fatima.

Lucia was only ten years old when the appearances occurred, which began on May 13, 1917. Lucia and her two cousins saw the Virgin Mary in a tree for a period of six months. The religious Carmelita Lucía del Immaculate Heart, the last survivor of the three children who saw the Virgin Mary in the Portuguese town of Fatima, died at age 97 on February 14, 2005. She died in the convent of Coimbra where she had been living since 1948.

This third secret was read by Pope John Paul II who then decided not to reveal the secret because he considered that in so doing it would bring the world panic and despair.

Mother Lucia first released the message to Pope John Paul II, who upon completion of reading it was shaking and decided not to go public out of fear of reaction. The prophecies of the Virgin of Fatima said the end of the world would come around 2005.

Following the solemn mass of May 13, 2000, in honor of the beatification of the little shepherds of Fatima, Jacinta and Francisco Marto, Cardinal Angelo Sodano, under the direction of His Holiness Pope John Paul II, described, in part, a prophetic vision which apparently was the third secret of Fatima. However, first he prefaces the prophetic vision by affirming that according to Sister (Mother) Lucia, who at 93 is the remaining shepherd of Fatima, that the “Bishop clothed in white in deep prayer for his flock” in the prophecy, is Pope John Paul II. Then Cardinal Soldano relates that in this vision our pope “makes his way with great effort towards the cross amid the corpses of those who were martyred; he, too, falls to the ground, apparently dead, under a burst of gunfire.” The vision of the third secret is not only an alarming prophetic warning but it is also a message of great hope for the Church which is under the protection of our Mother.

Furthermore, in this prophetic vision, we glimpse the powerful protection of our loving Mother of whom Pope John Paul II is “all hers.” In this prophetic revelation of the third secret of Fatima, the importance of Mary as the Mother of the Church, who is the Queen of Saints and Martyrs, is underscored. In John’s Revelation, through Her loving protection, “the serpent’s head is crushed.” It is without doubt that the course of that near fatal bullet from a “burst of gunfire” was divinely intercepted and changed on behalf of this most highly favored Pope, all because of her deep and abiding love for her children. As the most loving Mother, she guards us deep within her Immaculate and Loving Heart. She is the Mother of grace, the Mother of mercy.

The Third Secret of Fatima Revealed

The third secret of Fatima was revealed at the Cova da Iria-Fatima, on July 13, 1917, and reads as follows:

“After the two parts which I have already explained, at the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendor that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: pointing to the earth with his right hand, the angel cried out in a loud voice: ‘Penance, Penance, Penance!’

And we saw in an immense light that is God: ‘something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it – a Bishop dressed in White ‘we had the impression that it was the Holy Father.’ Other bishops, priests, men and women religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark; before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another, the other bishops, priests, men and women religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions. Beneath the two arms of the cross there were two angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God.”

Further Communications of Mother Lucia

In the prophetic visions of Fatima, we glimpse the powerful protection of our loving Mother of whom Pope John Paul II was truly dedicated. Could it be that Pope John Paul II is compelling us, through the release of the third secret to reexamine the state of the world and of our personal lives and to entrust them to our Mother’s Immaculate Heart? We offer this further elaboration that Mother Lucia gave to Father Augustine to more fully describe the prophetic images that the third secret of Fatima has revealed.

Father Augustine, who resides in Fatima, received permission from Pope Paul VI, to visit Lucia. Father Augustine wrote that she received him grieving, with tears in her eyes and said: “Father, Our Lady is very sad that no one took an interest in her 1917 prophecy, people don’t care about that prophecy. So, while the good have to go on a narrow path; the bad go on a broad path that leads them directly to destruction and believe me, Father, that punishment will come very soon as we depart from 2006 and will come without stopping. Many souls can be lost and many nations and states will disappear from Earth; the world can be lost forever.”

Lucia then reported the following conversation with the Virgin Mother. The Virgin said to Lucia, “Don’t be afraid, dear little one. I am the Mother of Heaven, who speaks to you and asks you to make public for everyone this message. Doing this you will encounter strong resistance. Listen closely and pay attention to what I say: Men should be corrected. With humble prayers, they must ask forgiveness for sins committed and the sins they may commit. You want me to give you a sign for everyone to accept my words through you as a middleman as I tell humanity what will come. You saw the ‘Prodigy of the Sun’, and all believers, unbelievers, farmworkers, citizens, wise, journalists, laymen, priests, all saw it also.”

“A great punishment will fall on all humans, not today, or tomorrow, but in the second half of the century. I had already revealed it to the children Melania and Maximino, in La Salette, and today I repeat it to you because humanity sinned and trampled on the gifts God has given. Nowhere in the world is there good order, and Satan reigns over the highest places determining the way of things.“

“For men are being led by the devil, planting hatred and revenge everywhere. Men make deadly weapons that can destroy the world in minutes. Half of humanity can be horribly destroyed. There will be conflicts between religious orders.

God will allow all natural phenomena such as smoke, hail, cold, water, fire, flooding, earthquakes, inclement weather, terrible disasters, and extremely cold winters as these times slowly end the Earth.

There will be diseases without a cure and people will make fun of the saints and the church. There will be uncontrolled killings, people will kill each other, many people will suffer.”

Sister Lucia

The Virgin told Lucia: “Go my child and tell the world what will come to pass during the years 1950 – 2001. Men are not practicing the commandments that our Father has given us. Evil is governing the world and is harvesting hate and resentment all over. Men will fabricate mortal weapons that will destroy the world, half of the human race can be destroyed. The war will begin against Rome, and there will be conflicts amongst religious orders. Many that were far from the church will return to the open arms of the Catholic Church – England, Russia, China, Jews, and Protestants. All will return believing and worshipping God our creator, his beloved Son and our Blessed Mother, the Virgin Mary.”

“Everywhere there will be peace talks, but punishment will come. A man in a very important position will be assassinated and this will provoke the war. A powerful army will dominate all throughout Europe and a nuclear war will commence.”

“To the faithful souls, remember to light the blessed candles, prepare a sacred alter with a crucifix in order to communicate with God and implore his infinite mercy. In the house, the only thing that can give light will be holy candles. Once lit, nothing will put them out until the three days of darkness are over. Also, you should have holy water that should be sprinkled abundantly on windows and doors. The Lord will protect the property of the chosen ones.”

“You must understand that God allows all this to happen. Remember that God’s words are not a threat, but good news. We can avoid a great deal if we practice the Commandments that God left us.”

“Some natural phenomena will occur before 2005, and move forward with greater intensity and destruction. The climate will suddenly change, creating extreme weather. Some will not survive because they have a lack of charity for others and do not love each other like my son loved them. Many will wish to be among the dead, as millions will lose their lives in seconds and suffer too much, new life forms will come and contribute to destruction to gain more power for themselves and thus procreate their new race.”

“The punishments ahead of us on Earth are unimaginable, but will definitely come. God helps the world, but whoever does not testify with faithfulness and loyalty to him will be destroyed, because many have already turned their backs on him and he can do nothing about it.”

“The time has come for everyone to convey Our Lady’s message to their relatives, their friends, and the whole world. We are close to the last minute, the last day, and the catastrophe is coming. Beware what is waiting for us. Everywhere you talk about peace and security, but punishment will come with nothing that can stop it.”

“A war without sense will provide a nuclear destruction. This war can destroy everything, it will be a disaster.”

“Darkness will then fall on us for 72 hours (3 days) and a third of humanity will survive this 72 hours of darkness and sacrifice and will begin to live in a new era.

Sister Lucia

“On a very cold night, ten minutes before midnight, a big earthquake is going to shake the earth for eight hours.“

“The good, those who spread the prophecy of the Virgin of Fatima, should not fear, but others will suffer the consequences of ignoring this warning. The earthquake will cause destruction of much of the earth, some parts will break apart and cause great disaster.”

“What should humanity do?” Mother Lucia asks, and the Virgin answers: “Don’t leave home and don’t let anyone strange into it, new and unknown people appearing to be good will ask to join them with their new race and way of life — ignore it. These new people will take advantage of the catastrophe that will happen in the world.”

The Virgin continued, “So that you may prepare and stay alive, as my children; I will give you the following signs: The night will be very cold. High winds will blow. There will be anguish and an earthquake will soon begin that will greatly tremble the Earth. At home, close the doors and windows and do not talk to anyone who is not inside it. Don’t look out, don’t be curious, for that will be the wrath of the Lord. Light blessed candles, because for three days no other light will be able to illuminate.”

“The earthquake movement will be so violent that it will move the earth 23 degrees and then return to its normal position. Then comes a total darkness that will cover the entire Earth. Every evil spirit will be on the loose hurting souls who did not want to hear this message and those who do not want to regret it. Everything will be dark and a great mystical cross will appear in heaven to remind us of the price his Son paid for our redemption.”

Mother Lucia continues to report what the Virgin entrusted to her in a prayer: “Oh God forgive our sins, save us from hell fire and bring all souls to heaven, especially those in need of your mercy. Those who believe in the message God sends and carries the message to others should not fear anything on the Great Day of the Lord.

“Those who are shut up in their homes will now be responsible for this large number of souls lost to ignorance. When the Earth shakes no more, those who do not yet believe in our Lord will die horribly. Wind will bring gas and water everywhere. Then the sun will come out. Many can live after this disaster. Once started, they should not look outside for any reason, because God does not want any of his children to see when he punishes these sinners, does not want them to see how they suffer, and does not want you to see the pain caused by these bad people.”

“It should be understood that God allows all this to pass and that God will punish all the people who did not listen. Remember that the word of God is not a threat, it is ‘good news.’ Independent of any creed or religion it is better to be prepared and be on good terms with God since we never know when we will be leaving this world.”

Conclusion

It is obvious that some of the prophecies of Fatima have come true, while others have yet to happen. The uncanny accuracy of many of the prophecies sends chills up the spine. It seems that Mary was correct that unbelievers will be unable to receive, understand, or believe these injunctions and warnings from the Virgin Mother – the Lady of Fatima. Even though the accuracy of the predictions that the Pope will be shot, a nuclear war will be started by another assassination, a Hitler-like person rises up to create war in Europe, and that the sinful moral fiber of the Roman Catholic Church destroys it from the inside out, all seem shockingly accurate. It is hard to dismiss these prophecies as religious fantasy.

The further information on the prophecies of Fatima provided by Father Augustine is alarming and make the reader question their own faith and beliefs. Are the “End Times” here, as the apocalyptic prophecies of Fatima predicted? The year 2006 has come and gone, and the eight hour earthquake has not happened – the three days of darkness have not manifested. But many of the detailed descriptions of the continuing “fall of man” and the “fall of the church” have certainly played out accurately on the stage of history.

There is still time to reflect on these prophecies and see if together, humanity might drive our destiny down a different path. “Forewarned is forearmed”, as they say. Perhaps this time we could be “forewarned and disarmed” as we follow the good advice of Holy Mother Mary and Mother Lucia. Only time will tell if the prophecies are correct that we are indeed, in the End of Time.
