Waves in the Ocean
A contemplation. As I regularly enjoy my morning cup of coffee on my back porch reviewing the communications sent into the digital world, a significant ruckus drew my attention. A pair of Cardinals that live in my back yard were it seemed very agitated, diving up and down, chirping at the top of their little voices. I scanned the yard to seek the cause of their panic. There on the edge of my garden was Steve. Steve is our outdoor cat, his choice of lifestyle. He appeared to be the cause of this panic. I examined the situation further, there in front of him was a little flutter of wings, Steve had discovered a new plaything, The Cardinals newest addition to their family had left the nest but hadn’t quite mastered the ability of flight. Try as she might, she would only get a couple of feet on each attempt and Steve, still closely observing and following this young chic all the while dodging Mom and Dad Cardinal intervening by swooping down upon him to distract his attention.
Instinctually and without any forethought, I inserted myself into the situation, first by removing Steve from the equation, that he wasn’t to keen on and I’ve the scratch to prove his displeasure. Next I picked up a small stick and guided the chic back to foot of the bush where they nested. Mom and Dad Cardinal didn’t seem to object to my help and I returned to my morning ritual. The Mom and Dad Cardinal I assume took over from there.
The Contemplation. Was it right to insert my will into the situation? Did my doing so help, hinder or cause harm to the subjects, if left alone would things have turned out differently.
Eye will now relate this intervention to my human experience. A conundrum that causes me mental turmoil. Intervening into another humans experience, more specifically the subject of awakening people, if that is what we can call it for this conversation. Seeing the ramifications and the disturbance of interjecting our percepcetions that contradict another’s current perception. As most of us know, when people are made aware that they have been living in lies and false hoods all their lives, it is serious life altering disruption for them. Consequences known and unknown. Therein lies my dilemma. Even doing so with the best of intentions, should I?
Returning to my intervention in the baby chicks life, perhaps by Steve chasing the young bird the pursuit would have empowered him to learn to fly then and my intervention hindered that from happening. Only to be eaten at a later time because he didn’t learn to fly then.
Like waves crashing onto the beach, each one leaving a different landscape behind, our actions crash upon the course of humanity, changing the landscape. The ocean wave we assume hasn’t intention behind it, nor does it perceive the effects of its actions. That could also be said of many humans and their actions. Then there are us, those who recognize that every action we make changes the landscape, the future, the direction, that if left alone would likely have had a different result. For better or worse cannot be ultimately determined at the time of action.
At this time in my journey, Eye have become very cognizant of this. For the most part Eye have become very reluctant to interject actions or influence others even with the best of intentions. Eye now regulate my actions on this footing. The first prerequisite for my intervention into anyones destiny, is they must ask for it. Also making it clear that just because I choose a certain path, they may walk with me however they should not follow me but choose their own direction and pace.
As for the little baby Cardinal, as of yet have I neither saw him fly or his rotting carcass in the yard.
I can only hope for the best for the wave I initiated that crashed into his destiny. Steve is well fed and can find another toy to play with.
In hopes you don’t find my stories annoying I wish you all a great day and may the waves you generate have the best intentions powering then as they crash into the landscape of the future.

  We had a bird fight in our backyard this morning. A turkey hen brought her chick into the garden to scrap the birdseed that had fallen from our bird feeders, which Douglas fills every morning. Then along came our family of sand hill cranes that come in each morning for their corn feed. They cornered the turkeys into the garden and were honking up a storm. Have you ever heard a bunch of sandhill cranes honk? Here is what just one sounds like (not ours)

    That may be a possibility soon, once we get her situation with mask allergy solved. Going for a patch test in two weeks that takes two weeks to complete. Working on a workers comp claim now. However if you ever wish to head to Virginia and visit Yorktown, Jamestown, Williamsburg or the many other historical places here we’d love to have you!
