Modern initiation is open and no longer simply a personal matter, it now includes family, community, and the world at large. The modern initiate comes to master the “Art of Life”, and then proceeds to share it with an ever greater community of friends. Vows of secrecy bound the initiate of the past, but the modern initiate is asked to share the wisdom, hope, and love that arises from the three stages of 21st century initiation. These three stages have been the foundation of many mystery centers in the past, but now the personal development of ancient initiation must become the social development of humanity as a whole – we must become selfless representatives of the spirit.
(Greek version) Neoanthroposophy is not speculation nor spiritual research that “goes beyond” Steiner’s indications but is the continuing work of the spiritual beings Rudolf Steiner has lead us to. Neo means new and in this case means “new insight” into the indications of Steiner. Steiner gave us enough spiritual wisdom from the hierarchy to fill our spiritual research for hundreds of years. We can search through the newest discoveries in science and find that Steiner has already addressed these discoveries almost a century ago.
It takes faith to develop the capacities to believe that there is a spiritual world or that there is life after death, let alone the belief in repeated human earth incarnations, or what is generally called reincarnation. It takes a willingness to believe that human karma and reincarnation exist. The modern materialistic thinker has no proof that an after-life exists or that spiritual beings populate a realm where human beings can live after death.
Every complete system of the spirit has seven parts. As students of anthroposophy know, humans are currently in the fourth large stage of evolution. And because we are only in the fourth stage of evolution, it may be challenging to understand how the fifth through seventh stages may be so incredibly different in dimension and consciousness. The subsequent stages are much more that a reorganization of the elements we experience in the fourth stage of evolution.
